Poor little Duke was turned into the shelter with his brother, who was adopted, and so he was left alone. One of our volunteers just couldn’t leave Duke behind, so she rescued him from another day of doggy jail and possible euthanasia. Duke is about 8 years old and is as cute as a button! He is small in size, house trained, and a real love bug. Although Duke doesn’t care to be picked up, it doesn’t matter because he jumps up to wherever he wants to go, which is usually right by your side where he can be petted and snuggle and cuddle with you. KoKo is our 4-5 year old gorgeous chocolate boy who was found matted, dirty, and hungry for food and love. An angel found him, took him in, and turned him over to HCSR. KoKo is an active boy in spite of being sight impaired. He loves playing with his friends, but he is also very loving and affectionate to his human. Unfortunately, KoKo was born with a genetic condition known as PRA, Progressive Retinal Atrophy, and he will eventually be blind. Currently, he seems to have difficulty only in the dark but is quite normal in the day. KoKo seems house trained, as he has never had an accident in foster care; in fact, he tells you when he wants to go out. We would love to get KoKo placed in his forever home where he can learn the floor plan before he loses all of his vision. He will give you lots of chocolate kisses and forever be grateful. This boy will be stunning when his velvet chocolate coat and platinum ears grow out. KoKo is being fostered in Katy, TX.
