Lucky

By Mary · June 27, 2022

Lucky is our fourth HCSR dog to return to our rescue in 9 months. Lucky was adopted in 2015, and after 7 years he has been returned as an 8 year old through no fault of his own. Lucky has already had some vetting, although he was updated in March. Friday he was groomed. Currently, he has ear infections for which he is being treated. His dental is scheduled for July 12, and he should be ready for a new forever home by then. He is also on a diet because he needs to lose some weight. Lucky is a happy dog who lived with both cats and other dogs as well as children. So far he has not shown any signs of separation anxiety. He’s good on a leash and cooperative, but right now his ears hurt. We will work on his ears and his weight while he is in rescue. Lucky would need an adopter committed to his ear care and weight loss program. Extra weight is very unhealthy for a dog. Eventually, it causes all kinds of health problems just as in humans. Ear care goes along with adopting a cocker as they are subject to yeasty ears since they have those beautiful long ears. A regular ear care routine usually prevents ear issues. We remember Lucky as a 1 year old puppy. Today he’s a good grown boy. He’s still beautiful, but those teeth need a good cleaning to prevent infections, tooth loss on down the line, and other diseases associated with poor oral hygiene. The weight also needs to drop for his continued good health.
