COCKERS FOR ADOPTION:

By Mary · July 1, 2022

Bubba

Bubba is happy to announce that after over 5 months he is completely healed from his ear infections and is ready for adoption! He celebrated with a bath and groom on Thursday. Bubba had the worst infected ears of any dog we have had in rescue short of surgery. After a culture, several bottles of medication, two different solutions and antibiotics, twice daily cleanings and medicating by his determined foster mom, and a visit to our ear surgeon, he is infection free. We are being extra cautious and cleaning once daily for a while before we recommend an every other day flush in his future home. It is imperative that any adopter of this delightful little boy keep up with his ears, which currently don’t take more than a couple of minutes to do. Bubba is cooperative and knows the bottle and quietly sits for his flushes. He is 7 years old, crate trained, house broken, sweet, and an all around good boy. He came to us from a South Texas shelter where he was surrendered by his owner in bad shape with his ears, so overgrown they shaved him at the shelter, dry eye, and heart worms. Today he is in perfect condition and as ready as he will ever be to lead a life of pampering instead of neglect. If you are interested in Bubba please fill out our application online at

Rusty

By Mary · June 27, 2022

Rusty is ready for adoption! Rusty was surrendered back to our rescue after three years in his home because his mom, who is a flight attendant, was transferred to London as her flight base. Rusty recently had a dental and a sizable growth removed from his right ear. It was sent out to be examined and came back benign! It was completely removed so there is no threat of cancer. Rusty is 7, and another good boy. He seemingly is not prone to ear or eye issues, but cleaning the ears on a cocker is as necessary as a bowl of food for this breed. It’s a must for keeping those floppy beautiful ears healthy. Rusty is completely crate and house trained, comes when called, and good on a leash. He has mild separation anxiety but is on no medication for it; we expect it to subside in a new and stable forever home. He doesn’t seem to mind other dogs. Duke

By Mary · June 27, 2022

Duke is still waiting for his forever home. Duke came from a south Texas shelter where he was an owner surrender; they said he was showing signs of age, had difficulty walking, and became aggressive with the grandchildren. Duke has displayed none of those characteristics since being in rescue. Zero! In fact, Duke runs laps around the yard and is tough to catch. He flies and forgets how hot it is now because he enjoys that freedom. The shelter was also told that he lived his whole 8 years in the house. It’s no wonder he loves being free and sniffing every blade of grass, watching trees blow in the wind, and being reluctant to come in! Duke recently also had a dental. He visited our veterinary dental specialist because his mouth seemed out of alignment, but it is only because at some point he somehow lost key teeth which help the tongue stay in. He rests his tongue where those teeth once were. But today, he’s very healthy, had no extractions with his dental, and his eyes and ears are good. He is also a handsome boy and is both crate and house trained, does well on a leash, and does not appear to be bothered by other dogs. Duke is on no medication and is cooperative at both the vet and groomer. He’s looking for his forever home! If you are interested in Duke please submit an application online at www.Houstoncockerspanielrescue.com/Application
